jsConnect SSO issues

Hi

I am trying to enable SSO between my website and forum but I am struggling a bit. Ultimately I would like to only have an autoconnect and have the sign-in/register through my website and not the forum.
This is what I have done so far:
1- I have a working jsConnect plugin. I set up the jsConnect plugin in my forum and the test url returns the following:
test({"clientid":"1689740706","email":"sophiecoon@gmail.com","name":"Sophie_Coon","photourl":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/uifaces/faces/twitter/walterstephanie/128.jpg","signature":"ef0dbc504869016668c529bb14f6c272","uniqueid":"72"})
I believe this is a valid jsonp but since I'm new at this I am not entirely sure.
2- Under the Registration tab of the dashboard I have selected the "Connect" method to only allow new registration through SSO.
3- I do have the forum login but also the "Or you can" option that indicates that the jsConnect is enabled.

When I try to navigate from my site to my forum by redirecting to the main url
http://stargatetest.vanillaforums.com

I do see the user has been automatically created but when I click on the sign-in with my site it hits the authentication method but then never gets in. It constantly gets redirected to the signin page.

When I have try to log-in directly into the forum with the automatically created credentials but I get a permission denied even after I create a password.
I am not sure what to try next.
Thanks for your help and let me know if you need any additional information
Sophie

    Hey Sophie,

I've turned on Auto-connect for you, which a setting that we need to toggle on our end for seamless SSO to work. Make sure that you are passing users through to the community via http://stargatetest.vanillaforums.com/sso. I believe this should work out your issues, but if you are still hitting a snag, provide me with a test log in so that I can reproduce the problems.

    Hi Laura

There was another settings that was preventing the signin to happen. The signin permission check box at the group level was checked off!
Thanks for your help I am all set.

Glad you got things working! Let me know if you need anything else.

  • Hi Laura

SSO is working great for new users that register through our site. How do I get access to the user ID of the existing two admin account so I can successfully signing through SSO. Is there an API I can hit, is this information you can give me?
Please let me know if you have any questions.
    Thanks
    Sophie

Which admin accounts are you talking about? Are they hitting a particular error when you try to log in?

Our documentation for the api is here:

  • Thanks for your help. We were able to get the information we needed!
    Logout question:
I have setup jsConnect to redirect to my signout url. In my signout url, I sign out from my site. However when I sign in as another user it looks like I am still signed in Vanilla. I have seen a similar post but it looks like something has to be done on your side as well is that the case? If not what am I doing wrong.
    Thanks
    Sophie

If this is happening to you personally, sometimes caching/browser settings can interfere with the process. If you are testing and working with a lot of accounts, I would cross check it in a browser you don't normally use, or an incognito window. Otherwise, you can direct it to http://stargatetest.vanillaforums.com/entry/signout?Target=yourrsignout, to ensure it hits both in succession.
